Seth Rogen, like his longtime buddy Jonah Hill, recently went bleach-blond, and it suits him. Also like L.A. native Hill: Canadian-born Rogen really seems to be dressing for Southern California bliss, and it shows.
Take, for example, Rogen’s recent smoke-break attire: a sunny patchwork shirt, easygoing terracotta slacks, slip-on espadrilles, and a very de rigueur Ian Charms necklace (a favorite of Justin Bieber and Pete Davidson). It’s the quintessential easygoing outfit of someone who, in 2022, likes to get a little baked and make gloopy ceramics in his SoCal bungalow. Nothing quite like dressing for the job you want! (And have.)
And if you want to achieve some sleazy SoCal polish, the bleached buzz cut can do wonders. Even if a long list of celebrity endorsers—Ye, Bieber, Pharrell, Joe Jonas, Zayn Malik, Chris Messina, Dylan O’Brien, and father and sons Beckham among them—helped cement the Slim Shady-blond buzz as a bonafide 2020s trend, that sort of public-facing proliferation also makes it seem like a fun thing. (“For women it’s a trend, but for guys it’s a bucket list or rite of passage look,” David Stanko, a hair color consultant and a colorist at Licari Cutler salon in New York, told GQ in 2017.) The ability to see the style on a variety of (famous) scalps means more dudes can envision it on scalps of their own. If Seth can do it, maybe you can, too.
